Movie Review: A Date with Ghosts
So much of indie horror is about doing it your own way, with a smaller budget than you’d think possible.It seems unfair to judge all movies by the same standards. A Hollywood affair with access to the best of everything isn’t quite the same as a home grown project shot for less than most people pay for a car.

A Date with Ghosts isn’t a Hollywood movie. It is a small British movie about…. well, ghosts. According to its IMDB page it cost about £3,000, which converts to $4651.50 per the magic of google.Here’s the official synopsis:
“A British independent feature horror film written and directed by Jason Brown tells the story of a group of friends that get trapped in a haunted abbey with no easy way of escaping.”
A review copy was sent our way, and it is a fun little movie. The premise is a solid interpretation of the haunted-evil-doers concept. It works within its limitations, using old school, in camera tricks for the majority of the special effects.
The monk ghosts are creepy because of their simplicity: they are ominous and powerful.
According to Brown’s IMDB profile, this is his first jump to a feature length movie. It is a strong first showing, and we are looking forward to what he has in store for us next.
